Field Trips/Transportation
The school arranges only a few field trips per year and these will be WALKING field trips.  Parents are invited to help
chaperone.  All parents are notified by a FIELD TRIP FORM when and where it will take place and if there is a cost.
Signatures are needed on this form along with emergency contact information.  Any parent may opt to keep their
child home instead of allowing them to go on a field trip.

First Days of School
The first days of school are very important to every child.  Please, well before your child's first day, let him/her know
often that he/she will be starting school soon.  Before your child's first day, please come in and quietly introduce
yourself to your child's teacher, if you haven't already done so.  Please make your goodbyes at the parking lot where
the assistant is waiting for your child.  After your child has become accustomed to the new routine, you are
welcome to let him/her show you around the classroom. (after school hours)  It often occurs that a child will not
want to come to school after his/her first few days.  Please keep in mind that this is a transition period and he/she
needs time to accept the new routing and environment.

Pick-Up/Arrival Policy
CMS informs all new parents that they will be asked for identification if they are not recognized by staff when they
pick up their children.  Staff must never allow a child to leave unless he/she knows that the person picking them up
is authorized.  Do not assume they have been asked for I.D. by someone else.  If there is any doubt or question,
please direct them to the administrator.  There is a clipboard holding authorizations for pick up in each classroom
and outside.  Authorized persons picking up or dropping off children must sign the child in and out.  Full signatures
are needed.  Staff members are responsible for keeping track of any child who stays beyond their regularly
scheduled pick-up time.

Late Notices/Occational Care
Late Pick-up Charges: If there was no previous notification (phone call, morning note, etc.) there is a late charge
of $1/per child for every five minutes or any part of five minutes after a child's scheduled pick up time.  In the event
of carpooling, the person picking up the child is responsible for the late fee and must work out a solution with the
other parents.
Occasional Care Charges: Any child staying before or after their regular program times will be charged a fee per
hour for any part of that hour prior to or after their scheduled time.  If the parent calls ahead, occasional care
charges are in effect.  If the parent is late, the late fee goes into effect.  Charges will be billed on the following
month's invoice unless accrued after June 10th, then payment is due at time of pick up.

Snow Days
Holidays, vacations and snow days will correspond to the Camas School District Calendar.
1 Hour Delay:  We start at 9:30am with morning care available at 7:00am.
2 Hour Delay:  We start at 10:30am Morning half day classes will be cancelled. (However, morning care will still be

***NO SCHOOL FOR Camas SCHOOLS MEANS NO SCHOOL FOR Camas MONTESSORI!!!!
Early Closure:  Parents have 1 hour after having been notified to pick up their child.

Summer Program
Each summer, based on enrollment, the school may offer summer school for the month of July.  If you are interested
in a summer program please contact the administrator.

Fundraising
The school operates with a Montessori board made up of parents and community members.  They are active in
planning various fundraisers throughout the school year.  Every fundraiser will have a specific purpose.  Each family
of Camas Montessori School is expected to participate in some way in order to maintain unity and share
responsibilities.  Your participation could be as minimal as placing phone calls or as involved as chairing a committee.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities include: helping with the reading program, material making, laundry, bringing library books,
chaperoning field trips, helping at celebrations, fundraising and many more. Parents are REQUIRED to volunteer 25
hours per year, or may "opt out" by donating $150 to the school.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Our religious curriculum will be offered at least once a week for one hour a week as an optional choice.  This
program helps your child form his/her own relationship with God.  It involves learning about Jesus the Good
Shepherd, understanding the parables and the different parts of a Mass, art, singing, prayer, and student-chosen
projects.  This is an optional program and requires prearrangement at time of reservation.  There is a check box on
the reservation form to request this program.  Children are admitted based on readiness and availability.
